I'm just curious to know, who here knew that our (new) 50c, 20c and 10c were magnetic? I only just found this out after watching a youtube video and curiosity made me find a magnet and try it, now I know why my cheepy chinese detector was a real money getter while my new more expensive one hasn't produced as much coin from the same sort of areas. I just thought there wasn't any at the location, but in reallity my machine was discraminating the coins because I never realised they are now made with iron in them!

They sure are. That iron core is what renders them useless after a few months in the ground.
Better the small stuff than the goldies though :)

The small stuff used to make up for the most $ I found, I remember coming home one day with just over $18 in 10c pieces, it was a lot of work digging out 180+ coins but they add up, and then I got the AT Pro and all I was finding in the coins was goldies. Hmmm when it comes back from garrett I might have to start digging more iron/foil trash to find em smaller coins.

I have recently tested and used the ETP and have found it to be fantastic at picking up those shitty 10c 20c & 50c coins -

Good to hear sycotoad, don't want to miss anything! What I think I did wrong was have my iron disc set too high so it was cancelling out those coins because it finds every other older coin just fine.

The newer coins especially the 20c & 50c are very jumpy signals and usually have a crackle sound to them.
Find the occasional 10c that comes up at 75-77 so in goldie range.. usually only dig them in bark when the kids are with me and it's a good way to hone the skills.

I think you have hit the nail on the head mate - Let us know if when playing around with your iron disc whether is improves any - something I really didn't (but should have) do when I had my AT Pro
