Hi Guys and girls,

So what I'm after is the Garrett AT Pro, my heart is set on it, I have done research in depth for the past week and the more I look the more I like it.

What I want to know is if anyone knows of anybody wanting to sell one? I know it's a long shot they are an awesome machine but hey you dont know till you try.

I have been too impatient when I see something I want, I want it now haha. Bought one today, on the courier first thing in the morning. Can't wait, so excited to get out there finding stuff. I also found out that where I live is one of the first settlement's ever in NZ so that should bring to light some interesting finds :)

Impatience is a bad thing in metal detecting,
Also buying detetor immidiately without Pros to give feedback for using one in NZ conditions etc....

I have done alot of research into the AT Pro, Watched every video I can find for both the US and International in NZ and I am confident I made the right choice for what I want it for. The one I bought is the US version not the International one. It's not my first detector but it'l be my first decent one.

That's a good read with all the research I done I didn't know of the tone difference, I think I got the us model but you've got me second guessing now haha, as long as it's genuine and not a knock off I'll be happy. They seemed cheaper to buy direct from the states but by the time you pay the import tax crap, shipping and conversion it works out very similar to buying one here, just you have to wait alot longer from the us.

I hope it's as good as people say, It turns out it's the international one i purchaced but im happy with that it's not like I will be finding too much american currency here anyway (although I have found a 1 cent and quarter already with my cheap chinese detector) so the little currency pictures wouldn't mean much.

I live in Maketu Andy, been here almost a year now.

I hope it's as good as people say,

In most cases a detector is only as good as the skill & ability of the operator.

Well I got it yesterday and had a little play around with it in the yard, WOW! the first swing beeped and blipped like 8-10 times, yes they were all targets, it took me a while but i dug every one of them to get a feel of what it was i was hearing. now thats after going over the same area twice with a cheap detector, I've never had to dig targets as deep as my trowel before. lol. Awsome machine and looking forward to spending more time with it. Have done a trip to south waikato to a place I've wanted to detect for a while, couldn't sleep last night with all the excitement and inticipation of what I might find. I will post any good finds on the forum.

Cool. Look forward to what you come up with. What were the targets that you did get in your yard?

Good luck out there

2x 2c, 1x1c, 2x5c a bottle top and 2 unidentifiable objects (iron of some sort).
So I went to a place today and swung the AT Pro for a good 6hrs, wrist is sore but thats maybe due to incorrect legnth between grip and arm support. Didn't find much of anything interesting got about $26 in goldies, over 50 pull tabs, a badge from the local hockey club, 1934 sixpence, spoon, a few bullet shells and some other random bits of unidentifiable metal. But my main aim of the day was to learn how to identify bottle tops and rubbish so that i dig less and swing more :)

Yes I found most bottle tops that i come accross actually produced really good signals jumping from 80-81, it's when I use the iron audio that im able to tell it's a bottle top with a sort of scatchy iron tone on each side of the top (I had to dig a few tho to be confident i knew what they were)

A group hunt sounds good, it would be great to meet some detectorists in person.
