agree - I would love to catch up with some prospectors just to see how different their hobby is to relic/coin hunting - I too have no idea why prospectors have a thistle up their an@l cavity regarding coin/relic hunters anyways - As Guardian mentioned, why is there a fence between the two, when both hobbies seem to align themselves together?

I asked if you fill in your holes as holes left behind by many prospectors have killed people - I am still yet to find a death caused by a relic/coin hunter cutting a plug -

By the way if anyone's considering coming way down south to try their hand prospecting in the Longwoods, there is a scout camp available on the edge of the bush for $5pp per night - Or I can put some of the members up .........
While you guys are hunting your gold, I will be flat out trying to find Chinese relics, so I wont get in your way or slow you down ........

There's only two threats in our bush - Gun Ho Hunters & Mine Shafts

If you find one of these, please fill them in
Makro - Nokta - deteknix - GoldFinder

This line of posts has got away from its original heading. Come on guys....cut the crap with this slagging off between gold fossickers/prospectors & metal detecting coins/relics etc. Both have there own page so there shouldnt be any issues.
Love, peace & happiness

Good luck out there

JW :)

hi folks
just got in from the bush so catching up on the goss
I still read the coin /relic collectors posts I find them interesting in there funny way, realising that if one lives north island there is very little gold so one has to fill there time in with something. perhaps im abit guilty for not posting like I used to so refer to locations if interested in gold (I will post later my latest find)

I do agree a little re no4 but like I said I should look at myself for not posting, this site in the beginning was set up for gold diggers (not kim.com)
its just there are a lot interested in digging up more than gold of course one is always proud of what one find so they post their findings here

for you coin diggers keep up with the photos I for one enjoy looking at what you get, as for you gold diggers how bout posting some and don't grumble.

happy wand swing LOL

personally detecting topics don't really interest me so I just don't read them. I have put the lack of fossicking/prospecting topics down to it being winter and no one is going out so theres nothing to talk about. back to the original poster. I would be a starter to depending on when and where we ended up going.

I started off just interested in gold, but then found some relics and researched a little to see what they were - before I knew it I was interested in general detecting too - actually enjoy posts/videos of others digging stuff up more than doing it myself now lol. NUGGY

Same here, I was all about the gold but living in the north can only come down a couple times a year so I started MD .
I am glad I gave it a chance .I have learnt so much about the history of my town and NZ, got some amazing finds and really enjoy just getting out. Plus all the $1&2 coins pays for my gold panning trips...Ferry, gas, food ,accommodation ect
I am coming down Labour weekend for my 5th trip:) if anyone up nelson ways want to meet up.
