My Bro has been gone now for just on 2 years, and so here is a spot that we had many a good year fossicking.

Kaeo.......yep I didn't believe until I panned that first show....

Good luck

Thanks for the share - appreciated :) What sort of gold did you used to find out of curiosity, flakes, small nuggets, etc?

Flakes, and I will never forget that feeling when at first you see that glitter.

That fist glitter was when I was seven and I remember it clearly...was very exciting to know that you could dig up money....so I would not lose it...I ate it....somehow in my seven year old brain reasoned that it would attract more. Would love to see a photo of the gold from up there...hint hint.....Mr 1864Hatter will be pleased that he has somewhere closeish to go to ;) he might even find some big stuff that has been sitting there all this time just waiting for the right person to swing the coil over it. I am interested in the occurrence of the Au....so AKiwi if you feel like presenting a wee lecture on your experience in prospecting that would be great and much appreciated by us all on the forum. Myself being confined to the schist country, I like learning about the variety of The NZ GoldFields and hope to one day visit the North Island, Terawhiti, Thames...and now, thanks for your input AKiwi, we can add Northland to the list.....I knew mining companies were looking at the hard rock deposits up there, but I never knew there were placer deposits. I remember somebody talking or reading about a claim......alluvial mining anyway, somewhere on the Waikato river!
