A subject I've been curious about for some time now. Quite a few videos on YouTube about different methods.

I'm curious if the value of gold recovered offsets all the chemical costs and potential cost of disposing of those chemicals?!

Hi Gavin,
Take a look at this forum: http://goldrefiningforum.com/phpBB3/

Sounds like you could make a profit but you will need to process a lot of scrap (economies of scale) and you wouldn't cover any labour involved. Getting enough PM scrap to make a profitable run would be the main problem.

Was economic with the older boards, but improved technology has greatly reduced the gold quantities in circuitry now.

Have you seen the way some people in India dig out the mud from storm water drains in search of gold. I think its only beneficial if your current income is less than $1 a day but you never know how much gold us Kiwi's are washing down the drains :D
