Sometimes the stories made while detecting are as good as the treasures we find...heres mine
Me and wifey was out detecting the beach..doing our usual thing..not finding much besides pull tabs..we hadnt been out for a while since someone stole our car last month..so this was our first hunt in a while..
A man approached me and was asking questions about my detector and then asked me if he could hire me for about 1 hour..yup no problem...
his wife had lost a gold bracelet while working in the garden..asked if we could come look for it..so we stopped in at his house on our way home..had a chat with him for a few mins..then headed back to the car to grab the detectors...just as we headed down his garden pathway..all 3 flights of steps down his garden path he said..my wife is unsure where she lost it..but she was moving some rocks around the garden over in this area..he pointed to a large slopey garden on a 45 degree angle..i looked over the fence and there it was looking at me..i told him i found his wifes bracelet..he looked at me funny since i hadnt even turned on my detector and i pointed right at it and said..."there it is"..he turned back to me and said "youre shittin me"
he offered me money but how was i gonna accept..i didnt do anything..he took my number and we parted ways...this picture will be one of the best treasures i have ever got and look at the smile on his face..priceless( hes the one holding the bracelet)

Nice outcome,

But i always will say this : IF you are rich enough that you do not want to except rewards FOR YOUR TIME no matter how much time/effort you spent- its entirely up to . If you belive in GOD (when people were sying : "Thank God, its found" - when actually it was metal detecting guy with his gear and skill) - its up to you. If you Belive in Karma - again its up to you to wait for Karmic reward .

But,again, i've seen (i was a witness) people Driving $100K BMW and loose remote key at the beach, that costs to replace between 400$-800$ and takes about a month . and that person jsut said THANKS and walked away when their key was found.

that is why i set (and suggest all other metal detecting guys) 50$ inital callout to search for item, that will pay your time and petrol and batteries and chance that you might be beated by dog, your gear leaks, you smash a head over tree brunch and so on. and if they feel like add something on top if item is found - take it.

Oh... you will say : "Max there are should be good deeds, you need to help people in need" , Ok, then, there are hundreds of disadvantaged people who actually suffer due to sickness, disability (Stupidity is not disability) - pleae help them, ALL OF YOU have neighbours who might be in their old age- go knock on their door and ask if any help needed. mawn the lawn. go shoppign for them, help them.

THAT WILL BE REAL HELP.

IF a person was took a single key to the beach and lost it in the sand, went swinng and lost ring/bracelet, was playing rugby and broke his chain and lost pendant, if MOMMY GAVE A RING TO A CHILD TO PLAY or ""MY HUSBAND AND I HAD AN ARGUMENT AND THROWN RINGS IN THE GARDEN"... that is a different story.

Those who haven't met me in person , might think i am stingy, grumpy shit - that is not true, i helped numerous people many times with food, clothes, and place to stay overnight.

BUt ,again, i WILL ASK and WILL TAKE reward for my time , skill and gear.

Regards,

Max aka Drunk Brother
