Hi guys, Found this last night only about 2 inches down, under an old bridge, reasonable high up the bank but still within the flood zone. It is quite heavy and has a 'V' shape on one edge, it looks like what ever is inside has gone in through the side and it has then been welded back up and ground smooth again. What ever it is it has had a pretty hard time.

Any ideas, I like the idea of anything explosive or radioactive, thanks Iggy.

Here's a "live" one: LINK

Commonly see them on the old wooden poles.

I think they used to wrap the repair in the lead sleeve, then fill it with wax or similar.
