I found these lead bullets in a small area of sand during a club hunt on Narrow Neck beach a few months ago. I don't know what gauge they are but are I suspect quite an early item as although two rings are visible on some the rear indent is quite shallow and without any wood plug. Comments welcome if you can identify them. The diameter is about 11mm.

When I looked at the different slugs and laid them out as in the pic you can trace the distortion of the shape as it would enter a body. Obviously quite a vicious weapon and must have caused horrendous wounds. After the initial thump and probably by the third distortion the lead would have been red hot as the tail of the bullet followed the nose in while releasing the tip to travel further in. I don't think two Panadol would have helped much.

Scary eh!
