Hi, I have been doing some detecting for gold lately and getting a few hits with no target ID
Anyone have much luck digging these targets?
I have been told and read that they are worth having a look just wanting to know of other
peoples experiences..

Cheers

Hey N8H....I can't actually help you out with the question but will be intregued to see what answers you get from others.
I also get the odd "No target ID" on a deep signal but have never bothered to dig, as I have never heard that they may be worth a look. Next time I may just dig one and report back on it.
Cheers for the potentially interesting thread.

I have actually had this happen on my AT Gold, where I get a signal, with no target ID but a definite tone. I have dug a few of these and found nothing (Actually I don't get a depth indicator either but I dig until I no longer get tone) What I put these down to is "Hot Rocks" or that kind of phantom annoyance. I stopped digging them when I become convinced that someone upstairs was just messing with me and having a good laugh at my expense (Paranoia??)

I found if your hitting a lot of "hot rocks" in a particular area to ground balance over them and that seems to quite them down...
I also use a AT Gold and found you can not pinpoint the hot rocks but the odd no signal will pinpoint..
Guess i should have had a good look at the time but didn't bother... but making me scratch my head now..

Nothing like a good head scratching situation to keep things interesting.

Was reading something the other day and it says Do Not ground balance over hot rocks, which makes sence other wise youre balancing to minerals to that rock and not to the ground youre searching..
Went for another look few days ago found shotgun pellets and other stuff but still no gold fom me!
