had a good hunt today at an old race course .not many finds but @#$%...stoked with my 4th half. It was weird come up 40/50 with iron on the AT Pro but when I cut the plug out came up clear high 80s up to 91.. I was thinking silver for shore..about 7 inches down. when I sore it I just rolled round on the ground and had a smoke. My first British half sovereign 1883...wow

You lucky bu...... Jimmy!
Well done.
Did you also find the greenstone and silver pendant?

That is the best result I have seen for a while.

Congrats!

If that's a Sydney mint one, and in good nick, it could be worth quite a bit more than the british minted version.

yer I found the green stone first was stoked with it..im not shore what kind of metal is around the top but I know its old as and must of been important made by the white man. Its my new good luck charm. Ill take it out to the beach with my this afternoon. only the 2 finds today dug up anything that wasn't iron. got some buttons and bullets as well. The sovereign was amongst a lot of iron...I have missed it about 4 times before. Im feeling lucky for the beach.
I know 4 halfs all from the same place..coming up to a year since I stared MD..

Gosh you make me sick. May the fleas of a thousand camels infest your armpits.

Well done in other words. The greenstone pendant is pretty popular amongst certain circles. May be worth more than your coin.

Epic day there alright JimmyB......I've had some pretty awesome hunts of recent times but I'm still waiting for the day I can cross a full or half sov off the bucket list. Well done man. As coinnut said, I think I'd be sticking to the dirt for a while now too!

I haven't got any gold detecting since last winter ,broke the drought in the best way.
Im still really keen to beat the beach...the dual field needs to pay its self off like the AT Pro has..
thanks for your comments

tip of the day: I recon if you find 1800s silver you should dig every thing that's not iron..it was a really weird signal that I wouldn't of dug anywhere else;)there is more out there.

I went back today for 4hours. no coins just a heart stopping lead head and a few bits of old copper wire and a bullet.(about 5 targets) Its very hard to find something to dig there now.
I have hunted the field a few times now all from different angles. Yesterday was just a random zigzag threw the iron field...today was back to grid pattern.next step will have to be a small coil for the really trashy areas

went down to the park after tea...gets dark fast.1/2 hunt $7 few 1&2c, penny key(they are stuck together kol) and a silver shilling. Always good to get a coin you have never found before.. must just be the 1890 shilling design. I like the coins with the shields:)
