HI , sum one said to me ,you do not have to have a prospecting licence to use a 2in dredges with a under 2.6 hp power motor, is that rigth or not

No you cant not unless you own the claim ur leagel rights are none . You can pan at one of the sights nzpam has set aside but other than that u cant do any kind of activity .
The amount of people that are self proclaimed experts on this site , and all over the country is amazing .
Nzpam spells the laws out in black in white so try there web site and read the crown minerals act 1991 .
As dredging and getting caught may mean u dt have a dredge any longer.

Do not 'BITE' just asking. They said 2in dredges did came in to New Zealand law, as it had to be bigger than that size . I do not have a dredges. so you do not have to cut my legs off

Dredges are only ok on a legal claim.If the claim is not in your name (ie you bought and paid for it) unless you have permission from the claim owner to dredge stay away.
You can use non motorised methods-pan,sluice,detector etc in doc approved public fossicking areas, gold recovery anywhere else without a claim is technically illegal.

That's the guts of the law as it stands.
