New to pay dirt. Am super keen on gold dredging would be great to buddie up and give it a go. Also very interested in the gold rush days and gold mining history, epically around Luggate area as there's heaps of old tailings everywhere.
Have been looking into papers past and digging up some good stuff, so any body with any leads would be great.
Thanks Steve

Also apart from the historic sites around Luggate , am I free to pan away as I can't see any mining permits on the map, I wouldn't want to step on anybody's toes.

That permit was applied for ages ago.not yet granted..you can go panning or use your sluice box anywhere on the upper clutha without any problems. There is good anglers access to both sides of the river. Try around maori point and the couple of access ways up stream on the tarras side. Look for a rust coloured layer at the top of some of the beaches, theres plenty of very fine gold within this layer. The whole lot was dredged back in the day and alot of the tailings are still there, theres the odd relic as well but sadly no reef...good luck
