hi littlespec,
i would suspect 50th regiment, British, fought in NZ land wars.

''50th: The Queen's Own Royal West Kent Regiment (“The Dirty Half Hundred”) had a detachment of two companies in New Zealand in 1834 and was in New Zealand between 1863–67 as the 50th (West Kent) Regiment ..."
(from http://www.teara.govt.nz...ps-in-new-zealand/page-3)

also can't find pic on the internet.
the only reason for suspecting, apart from the bloody great 50 on it,
is i found a similar button from 65th reg last week, same period.

stumbled on a great website, http://www.milimem.com
from a collector/seller out in west auckland selling all manner of military.
his website has been down for the last couple of days, but might be worth bookmarking.

great find btw. all the best, mickey.

Nice find. Some of the military buttons are hard to identify for some reason. Couldnt find my victorian one anywhere.
