Hi All.

After a fair bit of effort I'm looking at selling my first batch of alluvial gold. I reckon its about 2 oz, but considering its my first batch there could be a bit of contamination in it. What would be your recommendations? should I get it assayed first or for that quantity is it not worth it? Also where could I sell it, do you normally send it away or is it best to do things in person? cheers for your advice

theres a place in Richmond that buys it, was either a jeweller or pawn shop I can ask my mate if you want. dosent matter where you sell it as places like that anywhere in nz will rip you off, assays cost money some will buy without it others will want it assayed.

youre best way to sell is on trademe, have some patience might have to relist a few times but you will get far better $$ for it, just be sure to have a good photo that shows weight and always tracked postage.

Jens Hansen Jewellers in Nelson buys alluvial gold, they quoted to me that "they charge no assaying fees but prefer it clean and dry and ideally in amounts more than about 5g

The prices vary every day and if you have a larger quantity - more than a couple of ounces - then let us know that too as we can probably do a better price.

Please feel free to call to confirm pricing on the day.

You will need a drivers license or other formal ID to sell and we can pay by cheque to your named account or electronic transfer to your account. (No cash cheques)"

Hope this helps :)
