I am visiting kids and grandkids in Rolleston. I am from Colorado and have been gold panning/sluicing in Colorado, California, Alabama, and Germany (slim pickings there) for about 25 years off and on. Hope to try my hand in New Zealand next time I am here. Meanwhile, I can read up on things and try to find out what I need to be successful here. Likely will try to move here in a few years when I retire from teaching chemistry.

One thing I notice is that regulations are getting tougher everywhere. Generally they are already worse here than the US and Germany is even worse than here. Under the current US administration, things are going downhill--fees are going up for what you can do, locations are being restricted and motorized equipment is being banned in many places.

May every pan have color!
