I am going to be travelling down the full length of the west coast of the South Island very soon and am putting aside a week or 2 for
some gold panning, can anyone help with locations and knowledge of this area. I only have the experience of some panning
for an hour in the whataroa two years ago and it's been bugging me to pan here again as i found some nice flakes.

Hi Derek, Welcome to the forum. Whataroa....looks like a good place for you to go back to then. I was there last october but I didnt do so good there. I tried up stream a bit from the "bush camp"
Have a look on the home page under the public fossicking area maps.
