Was hoping for some insight from anyone who has used a detector that finds gold at a good depth ,small pieces, good at cancelling ground mineralization.

I can only speak for 3 machines...they are the fisher F75....the fisher goldbug...and the goldbug 2.......the goldbug 2 is strikly a gold machine no digital readout or anything
and only has a cancel iron switch...I have some pics on here of gold found with the F75 as does rgmcbride....and hatter1864 has pics of the gold found with his goldbug...

If you want a great allrounder the new goldbugs are made for finding gold but if you putt an 11 inch dd coil with it it becomes a great coin /relic hunter and has digital readout and
auto and manual ground balance..

Working on the premise that performance improves as the price paid increases, what is your proposed budget.

In the red corner..... the Gold bug 2

And In the blue corner..... the Minelab 705 gold pack

Both are going for the Gold....... LOL

Seriously tho, From what i've learnt so far about these great machines, You can't go wrong with either brand.

But for the record, I got the Gold Bug Pro. Price was the deal breaker for me, it took me ages to make up my mind.. :)

Well, technically the GB2 should find the smallest gold because it runs at the highest frequency. And Fisher claims it to be the most sensitive gold detector ever made. In air tests I have done the Gold Bug 2 is noticeably better than the other Gold Bugs and the F75 on the really tiny stuff (smaller than a pin head). However, the newer digital detectors like the Gold Bug Pro, F75 and the Minelab 705 have made up a lot of the ground with their processors and have a bit of a depth advantage. So if it were me I wouldn't just go on target size; I use an F75 which is the weakest of the detectors mentioned and do not feel at all hindered when detecting for gold, it has picked up some really small nuggets in well traveled areas. In my opinion all the detectors mentioned are plenty good enough and it comes down more to the operator than the slight advantages in target size/depth. Thats my 2 cents anyway.
