Hi Folks
Still looking for a Metal Detector, Tesoro Sand Shark seems that it will work on Black Sand,
Not sure of the price at this time, awaiting e-mail, is there a comparable MD out like,
Still very confused but I P seems the way to go. Any advise would be great.

Sorry, had to laugh with the confusion - PI not IP :)

Never used a Sand Shark but there are a lot of happy users on the overseas forums. From what I've picked up from these forums is that the Sand Shark is not the deepest PI out there but still comparable in depth to a high end VLF and will detect in minerlised areas that VLF's can't touch. A Whites Surfmaster PI Dual Field is a comparable machine - more expensive but with the added benefit of being waterproof (and possibly deeper detection).

Remember with any PI you will be digging up a lot more junk since they can't discriminate like a VLF.

I still run a late 80's Garrett SeaHunter (PI) certainly not the lightest beast as it's designed for SCUBA, but that bangs away through iron sand with no issues. It's fairly good on larger gold too. Yeah, it'll fire off on anything but most of my areas aren't too trashy so I get away with it.
Great for those days when you miss the low tide and end up a bit deeper than most :)

Could be worth keeping an eye out on TM, should imagine that in good nick they'd only be worth a couple of hundred these days.
