hi i live in akaroa alot of the old places are holiday homes which means they empty alot im trying to find a site where i can find a owner of certain homes so i can ask for permission any ideas would help thanks

I think you can do it through your local council. it will probably cost you though. if you feel a bit cheeky go ask the neighbours of the houses. they might tell you who the owners are. especially if you are known to be a local and not just there to case the joint out.

hey, you can often find this sort of info via your local council's website.

i know here in queenstown you can view a map that has all sorts of info like natural hazards etc. the same also shows each land parcel which has a unique code number. just a matter of using this code against the rates database and you have the owners. unless they are behind a trust or something. some councils don't show as much as they used to to protect people's privacy or something, but basically there is always a away to find out and get around this. unfortunately some councils aren't are tech savvy as others so you may struggle to even figure out there website even.
