Dont touch it mate.
Cornwall Park has a no dig policy and they enforce it.
Not sure but I suspect OTH is the same.

Pity cos there would be heaps there to find.

Well that sucks.. Have you got any location suggestions? Does the domain have a no dig policy.. not sportsground part but more near the trees.

all places there are protected and you will get in a big trouble for digging there

Might be a silly question but are the places included on the "must do" checklists no dig areas too?

Not that I'm planning on on digging but just curious to know wheres not appropriate.

If you mean the visitor recommendations on the http://www.historic.org.nz/ site then most defiantly they are no dig areas. Any place listed on their register is out of bounds no matter how tempting it could be. Nothing would bring council / govt crack down on detecting faster then disturbing a historic site.
