A good afternoon trip at my local park.

One of the more curious finds of the day was a 1942 NZ half penny with a hole at the top (possibly for a necklace?).
Not quite sure about the 1936 one, after a little research I believe NZ coinage was invented around that time?

1933 was when we brought out our own currency.

The hole in the penny would have been a necklace. It could have either been somebody's birth date ('42) or more likely a "Lucky Penny" that they didn't want to loose by keeping in a pocket. Doesn't look like it was that lucky since they lost it anyway! :)
