hi waka,

i'm just back from a more tropical place. feeling the cold. just been told it was colder still in previous days.

i'd say it's just the usual changeable spring mountain weather here. we had a small bit of rain last night.

always good for some sort of mining although i'm sure the water is too cold for much in it without lots of thick neoprene.

just checked the regional council site and the shotover is running at 60 cumecs, so up there. i'd say it's really only good for detecting at the moment unless you have somewhere up a high bank worth digging. or a small side creek tucked away somewhere. it's the same every spring. dredging really only starts in december. there's always a few small windows of opportunity but these usually end in an annoying spring fresh of some degree.

a good time of year to do some exploring on foot, detecting, or putting in the vege garden before summer starts and the rivers are low.

Hi Waka,

all we have at the moment is rain. a few good floods on the rivers this month. has the lake up pretty high now too. the usual october type weather really. i haven't had the time to think about heading out but the river has just gotten higher and higher so a no go at the moment. a good time foe me to do some much hated office work and stuff around the house which there's heaps of.

today's queenstown update - same old. yes, rain. the shotover has been up with 4 good peaks lately. lake in running high. ground is saturated so runoff now slower. only 8 degrees at moment and meant to snow over the south also. there was better weather in winter to tell the truth. could actually go mining.

It's 25.5 degrees up here, bright sun, gentle breeze and a few puffy white clouds, - as it usually is.
