Hi guys and girls,

My name is Jase and I live in Wellington.

I have been Metal Detecting for the past 2 years, so I am still relatively new.
I also have been visiting this forum on and off during this time also, but thought I would finally register, and maybe meet other local detectorist or groups and maybe join in for a hunt or two.

After watching Brett Thom's (an Auckland detectorist) metal detecting videos on YouTube, I was hooked.
Thanks Brett, what an awesome hobby you got me into, I'm loving it.

I mainly have shot for current currency during my time and has paid off extremely well for me, but that can get a bit boring, occasionally I will hit the odd sterling ring now and then.
I am thinking about getting into beach/surf jewelry hunting by December this year, hopefully with a new Excal II.

I started with a Garrett Ace 350 then a Fisher F4 and currently run a Etrac.
The Etrac has been awesome, but I am asking for opinions on whether or not an CTX3030 is a worthy upgrade from the Etrac?
I love the Geo-tracking feature it has, the nicer screen and the straight shaft.

Anyway I'll leave you at that, and maybe see you in other threads.

Thanks, and maybe we will meet up for a hunt soon.
