Ok so this is my first post on here (long time lurker)....
Have recently bought a Garrett AT Gold (first detector), and have taken it out a few times, as well as having a play round the front lawn! and I have to say so far its awesome, although it does seem to spit the dummy a bit if it goes to near salt water, or iron sand but I think i can sort the iron sand out with a bit of perseverance!
Haven't really found anything overly interesting yet, so no interesting pictures just yet! lots of bullets shells/projectiles at the last spot (on the beach passed the Motueka waste water treatment ponds (what a stench!)) some random bits an pieces from the beach at the Kumaras, and some modern coins from the playground bark at the park across the road! have mainly been concentrating on beaches at the mo while i learn how to pin point targets better and effectively dig them up without damaging the ground to much.
But having a blast and my 5yo son seems to really enjoy it, although hes always wanting to go "gold mining".
Well just wondering if anyone has any ideas on areas that would be worth a look around the Tasman region? I know there is a lot of history here and have been doing a lot of research although mainly on the goldfields, as that was the main reason I bought it (and went for the AT Gold) but good to have some places closer to home to swing the coil when time or weather doesn't allow to get up in the hills.
Any info much appreciated!
