Just watched a gold testing vids on youtube all because the stamp on jewellery says 18k
does not mean it is 18k same as "sterling silver" .
on one forum gold testing kits well over $100 ?
I have found a kit on Fish pond NZ for $39.97 including shipping and GST.
I managed to get all the cobwebs off of the visa card and make a purchase
here what the blurb said:

This kit includes 1 bottle of JSP 10K Acid solution, 1 bottle of JSP 14K Acid solution, 1 bottle of JSP 18K Acid Solution, 1 bottle of JSP 22K Acid Solution, 1 bottle of JSP Silver Acid Solution, 1 bottle of Platinum Acid Solution, and 2- 2x2 test stones. This kit is used to verify the gold content in items! Apply a drop of this solution to a small sample of the item to be tested onto the test stone. If the sample disappears, then the item is below the karat of the solution Each bottle weighs 15ml This solution works for testing any gold which you believe to be 10K, 14K, 18K, 22-24K, Silver, and Platinum pure. Acid changes colour based on purity. Very easy to use--instructions included. Ideal for testing jewellery, coins, antique gold, silver, platinum collectibles, and more! FREE GIFTS: 5 Gramme .999 Gold Clad Test Bar & 5 Grain .999 Silver Test Bar.

I'll let you know what happens when it turn up, and I do some testing.

Hi the only thing that I don't like about Fishpond.NZ is the time it takes to get my order
All they say on the trace & trade is it will be delivered between the 7th and the 20th.
which mean that it will take Three to four weeks, and in my book that's far to long.
So the answer is "I don't know".
I have ordered stuff online from the US and it took six days to turn up.

I imagine they'll be drop shipping from China if it takes them that long for delivery.

From memory, fishpond is just an amazon reseller storefront. Probably better to order direct from Amazon's website, to avoid unnecessary mark-up.

And surely they mean a 5 grain gold sample not 5 "grammes" as stated as the silver is a 5 grain piece.
