I found an interesting coin today. From looking on google it seems to be from Nepal.

Yep. Nepalese. Not the sort of thing you dig up every day!

It is dated 2038. This seems to mean 1981. Not as old as it looks!

Had a good day in Hagley park today. I found my first ring, a silver band. Then I found another silver ring with a nice green stone in it! Also here is a photo of the 1882 shilling I found last week.

Those rings and shilling look awfully similar :)

Great finds btw! That ring looks gold.

Hey Lk, nice find......and potentially a fairly valuable and rare one too!
I have just researched this badge for you via my copy of "Morel's Medallic Commemorative's of New Zealand 1865 to 1940". Although yours is slightly different to the badge shown in the pic below, it is obviously a very rare and sought after commemorative item. Unfortunately, I don't have a copy of Morel's supplementary pages, to see if this variety you have found (with the 1840-1940 banner) is mentioned in his updates. The pic and following details give you an idea of it's rarity. As you can see it is rated an R6 on the rarity scale and as such, in good condition is worth up to $150. I'm guessing that even a "time worn" example like yours will be pretty valuable in the eyes of a collector.
Nice work Lk, and happy hunting mate.

Thanks for researching it, I'm impressed that you found a record of it. It was a great to find something with some enamel that told a story.

No worries mate. It's exactly the sort of thing that interests me. I only wish I had as much luck as others on this forum, of actually finding these items out in the field!
