Watched a really good movie called "Colour in the creek". It's set during the 1930 depression in Australia. A lot of unemployed people drift out of the cities into the country looking for work and discover gold prospecting. It's a 2 DVD set available in Auckland Libraries.

Got a new computer with windows 7. It's got a program DVD shrink for burning DVDs. Does any one know how to operate it and get it started ? I know you have to copy it on to the hard drive first. Could come in handy.

You will need a programme called a DVD Ripper to get the video off the discs.

Magic DVD Ripper is a good one but not free (not expensive either!) http://www.magicdvdripper.com/

Once done you can enjoy watching the video or burn it onto a disc for yourself. Be aware that copyright laws state that you can make a back-up of any DVD for yourself only and you can not dispose of it to anyone else by any means.

This is quite easy to do, but you may need to download a couple of pieces of software.

If the DVD has any kind of copy protection you will need to use a program such as AppGeeker DVD Ripper to 'rip' the DVD to file formats you want on your hard drive.

Then you need a program such as Windows DVD Maker to convert the ripped file and burn to DVD.

It is an application included in Windows Vista and Windows 7 enabling the creation of DVD movies viewable on a standalone DVD player.

I use CloneDVD by Slysoft for my backups, very painless.
