Hey guys,

I probably like a few others started watching a few tv shows on Discovery channel (american digger, diggers) and thought I could give it a go.
So I went out and got me a detector and pinpointer and trowel, etc however I haven't had much luck at all, I seem to have the detector workings down now it just seems after days the best thing I've found was a 1915 penny haha.

I'm in West Auckland at the moment and was just wondering i anyone had any suggestions where to look, I'd think main popular beaches like mission bay, etc but they've probably all been hit hard,

Cheers

Hi Djevel,
I was wondering when the US tv shows started hooking people here :)

You will find that most people won't give out locations because finds are only of a finite quantity, but yes any of the beaches or public parks are worth a look at. A member here may offer to team up with you as well. No place is ever hunted out but the spots that have been hit hard in the past take some work and time before you find something. If you do some research on your local area (search back on this forum for suggestions on research) you should get lucky and find a spot that hasn't been detected much before.

Beaches can take a bit of work and timing. You want the sand to be eroded away before any old finds expose themselves and your detector makes a huge difference whether you can hunt in the wet sand or not. What sort of detector do you have??

That's a fine piece of gear. Read the Manual, use it, read the manual again, use it some more and then read the manual again.

Very good advice.

Good luck gjj109. If it's there you should find it with the 705.

Thanks,

I went out a few times in last week, still not used to using the 705, at Ladies mile I found a 3d from the 40's but gave up because there was a ton of (volcanic?) rocks that kept making the detector go off in the 40+ range. I also had the same problem when I went up mount albert.. found an arrow and some old pennies but the constant 40+ beeping was getting on my nerves.

The 705 however is a beast at finding coins at parks/playgrounds, found well over 150 already.
