Finally sat down a while ago and sorted all me coins to see what I needed to complete the full 1933 - 1965
pre decimal set. turned out I didn't need many at all. I had all the silvers except a 1940 half crown and of course a 1935 threepence. I also didn't need to many pennys and half pennys as most of the ones I had cleaned up real well. problem was all the cupro nickel coins I had just wouldn't clean up from the red colour they go and didn't look very nice in the display. So I bit the bullet and bought and swapped what I needed to finish the full set and then framed them in a old antique frame. the coins themselves are recessed into a mdf board covered in black velvet.
Kind of satisfying knowing that most of them I dug up out of the ground. maybe one day I will dig up a 1935 threepence to replace the bought one. would be so much more satisfying.

Great way to display them Chris, really impressive.
And how safety conscious of you to to wear your hi-vis while photographing them. ;-)

My greatest fear is that when I die my wife will sell my collection for what I told her it cost me.

That looks quite impressive. I don't even have that many coins in my wallet, lol.

Good job!

Bloody fantastic mate! Got me thinking I have to get stuck into my coins one day to make up a full set. Still to find one of those elusive '35 3p's as well though.

it will look just like a piece of oak matching the frame.

Nice one Chrispy, looks great.
We bought a bag full of coins the other day as it had 2 1935 NZ threepences in it. With emence joy we went back through them to find a 1936 and a 1940 only. What were we thinking... cost a 100 bucks and no 35's.
Figured out where we went wrong, all i can say is friday nite drinkies can impair ones thoughts.
