Those NEL coils look good! I wouldnt mind a huge coil to get down deeper.

Beware with getting too a large a coil. Yes you will go deeper (rule of thumb as deep as the coil is long) but you will also pick up a lot more masking from junk and any EMI will be a lot worse. My largest is a 12" concentric (for a V3i) but I only really only use it on the beaches where there's not much junk, I figure there aren't many other areas where the finds are a foot down (most parks are only up to 6")

Last night went for a hunt with Latch - Usually I can sniff out the goldies but where we went was so trashy he at least doubled my finds.
I was using my 11" DD and he was using a 8".... Next time I will be taking the 5x8" or the sniper coil - that will teach me for taking out the 4.5" at the last minute.

It was so bad I had to try and attack the outer edge of the cream - Pinpointing was VERY tricky.

I can see the advantage of a bigger coil hitting more solid on the little 'iffies' though.

Thanks for in put guys. Good to have knowledgeable detectorists here bit of an amateur myself. Reason for big coil is to sweep more area and if targets are too deep I'll move on depending . Main reason is coverage . I'll get the hang of it when I do . Going to look at getting V3i around October so that way I have a spare if a mate wants to come
