Hi All.

I've been a lurker here for a few months now and finally took the plunge and joined..

I've got the bug bad..lol.. So bad that if I see a stream or river on tv I'm wondering if theres gold in there..
I got interested when I inherited a dredge. Since then I've come to learn through a lot of reading on the forums here, a dredge doesn't do me a lot of good unless I own a claim or know someone who does.. I'm also in the North Island so it's not like I can shoot out for the weekend to get my fix..

I was looking at buying a claim so I could come down South for a couple of months a year but the claim I was interested in has possibly already been sold.. My fault for not jumping on it quick enough I guess. But after reading a few articles in the papers down there I have a concern that not living nearby and being able to keep an eye on things then any Claim I might possibly buy could be jumped in the 10 months I wouldn't be around. Not a good thought..

Anyway.. I'm going to come South for a month in January but it looks like I'm going to be relegated to the fossicking areas and sluicing. I was thinking about doing a loop around the top of the Island and visiting Aorere River, New Creek, Louis Creek then down to Lyell Creek and then over to Stony and Britannia Streams..
The other option I have is to not go to the Aorere River then I could travel a bit further South maybe to Shamrock..

Any suggestions about which areas might be better for me to visit and which to not bother with would be greatly appreciated..

Oh, and a huge thanks to you guys who have taken the time to write about your experience's here. The knowledge you shared has been a huge help to me in the past few months..
