I don't find enough time to actively monitor the forums as regularly as I'd like. I try to be fairly hands off anyway, only weighing in once people have reported issues to me. As I've always stated - these forums are yours, not mine.

But going forward perhaps we should have elections every 3 / 6 / 12 months to nominate some moderators who have the power to edit / delete spammy or offensive posts and in extreme cases ban a member from posting for a day or two. If so we should probably have distinct moderators on both the gold and metal detecting parts of the forum.

Anyone interested would put their name forward then a poll would be conducted to see which members get the roles based on other members votes.

What's everyone think - do we need / want this?

Yap, its a common practice on most of forums regardless of the topic.
and yes, have "specialized" mods on metal detecting part and gold part. simply to the fact, some would have no idea about dredges, while a lot about coils... and visa verse.

On that Note i would like to put my Name up for Metal detecting & Discussion parts of the forum :-)
Reasons :

I am online over 9 hours a day so can filter through all those Fake passport messages and remove them before even people post about UGGS and enlarge wiener pills :-)

Perhaps there should be some discussion about removing the enlarge weiner pills as some may need them. :-)

I think DrunkBrother would make a great Mod. His computer skills would definately be an advantage also.
As for the Gold side, there's a few names that come to mind but I will wait and see if they want the job first.

Pretty much within an hour of me reporting anything to you, in most cases it has been sorted.
I think you do a brilliant job and am impressed with how you come to your conclusions on issues can't be easy being a one man judge and jury.
In my opinion it's not if we need it, it's if you require the assistance?

Hey MK as to loosely quote Gavin It's big brother (google) watching your searches. soooo does that mean it's hitting it's target audience?
I've never seen that one. *8^)

we dont need someone removing things straight away,it would make the forum too sterile,just let things happen,take the good with the bad,just like life.Other wise the flow will change to the way the moderater wants it and everyone is different.

Just my thoughts.

The Mods usually remove spam messages right away, like those UGGS and Pills and other crap.
Also stop flaming

Moreover- they answer generic questions and direct to known posts and so on.
