Unearthed a lot of iron to get there lol.
How about any silver coin from 1967, if there is such a thing.

Hmmmm. You've got me thinking...

Why do we hardly ever find non-silver florins?

I think when they took the silver content out, the silver ones stayed in circulation because the silver value was only slightly higher than the face value at the time.

When they switched from florin to 20c piece, there was an active removal of the the florins from circulation (possibly with users taking florins into banks to exchange for 20c pieces)?

So even though silver florins only went from 1933 - 1946 - 13 years, they may have been in active circulation until 1967 (or even slightly longer?) whereas non-silver florins lose out by 13 years.

But I still reckon my silver:non-silver florin ratio is higher that this accounts for.

The only post 1965 silver coin that I can think of is the US half dollar.... they are 40% silver and is could be possible to find one here though nearly improbable.

I was going to say the same thing as I noticed it too in the last few days of digging them. I never dug the pulltab range before.

Its more then probable. I found a 1964 Kennedy 1/2 dollar (40% silver) on Waiheke a couple of years back. It had a small hole drilled in the top so assume an American tourist wore it on a necklace and lost it swimming. Always surprising what can be found!
