Hey guys
I live down western southland starting
Get into gold mining was wondering what
Use thought was best for my location, don't
got much gold nuggets round here just
Fine gold ,well as far as I know , I am a rookie
And any locations round here use know of ?

To put it simply, dredgeing is quite a seasonal activity 4 to 6 months, but detecting can be 24/7. I see detectorists out at all hrs down the Kawarau Gorge. But if u are truly locked into ur location, and its just fine gold, maybe a sluice box is all u need, as the finer gold is what is transported in floods and does tend to settle on the beaches. Also the southern beaches have beach gold, just got to learn the ropes with that.

Cheers yea we been doing a bit down on the beeches with a gold cube been good fun and yea I've got a sluice I can barrow so that will do me for now, are they finding much gold in the hills round queenstown still with the gold detectors I've just read hammys gold , would love to get up and have a look up the moonlight n stony bit see they re under claim gutted crivising sounds good fun

The river system maybe claimed but nobody can stop you detecting above high water mark in those areas... Except cocky with shotgun!!!
