Yes, figured it seemed a bit steep. Guess the gear he's chucking in makes up a % though.

GAV:

it does seem a bit steep, realising that it has only been permitted for a few months by the sound of it. a permit costs about $3400 so it should take more than an old MV and a dredge to make up the rest of the price.

does the hut come with?

1 hectare, well less than 1 hectare, is not much to play with.

while i love gold mining, at about 1 gram an hour, u would prob just be buying yourself wages.

who knows, there could be nuggets in there somewhere tho.

i would be asking what sort of time has been put in there over the summer.

maybe a day up there testing a spot chosen by yourself may be the best bet to test its worth.

does this area have any historic mining in it?

Simon.

Hi Simon,

Not interested in buying it myself - just something I spotted on Trade Me ;)

I dismissed the notion as soon as I saw the price tag!

Cheers,
Gavin

i make that about 15 months work, 5 hours per day, 5 days a week, 48 weeks a year, assuming the weather all year round is perfect. And thats not taking into account food, repairs, petrol, transport to the gold shop, hookers and grog.

after taking that into account and the length of the claim, (forget about the width of the claim, you would need a digger and a trommel) you would never get your money back. Hookers dont come cheap especially when they charge travel time to make house calls at springs junction!!!!

Yeah, looks like a fair bit of overburden to get through! That bit of bedrock shown might be the only bit exposed :P

hi its quite funny reading comments passed about this claim especilly when no seems to know much about it. I'd like to know where Ican get a job paying the ammount this claim pays per hour in the water it has a very rich history 16000oz on the flats just up stream from the claim was taken by a Bill Blackadder he then lodged for the claim down stream and was turned down by the then forest service gess who now has that little bit of river
cheers from kiwi keith

I would say that the vendor is a straight shooter - his Trademe feedbacks are all positive with not one exception. Now I know a wee story from many years ago up there - the 1970s in fact - if my health was better and I had a partner who was prepared to give it a go I might be more than tempted.

Actually, I take my previous comment back about bedrock - there was a bit more exposed on various bits of the claim I seem to remember. I was originally picturing the stream in front of the hut where it all looked like overburden.

Still not got pockets quite that deep though at the mo ;)
