Thanks Gav.
I had a couple of very good days on this patch about a year ago, using smaller coils but I think shes all done now after going over it with the larger coils in the last couple of days.

Sorry for the late reply.
It was a fun couple of days. The jar sure grows!! quick when you get them like that,as you would be well aware.

They were all found with the latest 17" Nugget Finder eliptical mono, super light to swing all day long, bloody awesome coil.
Tried an 18" round after but got nothing.

Have you got anything larger than an 18".

nup the 18 inch round dd is my biggest. dont you find the spoked coils get snagged over rough ground, or do you a full skid plate?

Gidday Starflash

I have only hooked up a couple of times with the spoked 17" nugget finder coil (advantage series),& its seen a lot of country, so " no problems".
The coil is so light you can swing it all day long,so there is no need to use a bungy or hipstick.
Personally I dont use either of these as they are hopeless in our mountainous gold bearing areas or amongst the old gold diggings or in areas infested with rabbit shot.
Most of the gold is found here in pretty uneven or at times overgrown terrian. You will often walk many many miles in a day, sometimes before you have even switched your detector on, so you need to be highly manoeuvreable & carrying minimal weight to cover the terrain to better increase your chances.

I am looking at buying a 24" nugget finder to use on a couple of areas of deeper ground & was wondering if anyone uses one?

24 inch elip?, i think jw has one of those, and he uses that with good success, however my mates in aus swear by the rounds, aparently they go deeper, they use the 20 inch rounds for patch finders and seem to be very sensitive.

how much is that going to cost with shipping?, $1000 plus?, the nz/aus cross really sucks at the moment.

how low is the snow on the hills at the mo?, i may have some more work in queenstown in the coming week
