I found I got sore ears with headphones, like ear cramps lol, so I just use my ear buds from my phone, don't even notice they are there, and super easy to pack away.
They wouldn't keep my ears warm though lol.

And you can spend a lot of cash on a set of phones, maybe there is a difference in quality, but a beeps a beep.

i used some technics headphones on my GB2. only recently broke them, after years of falls and catching them on bushes they split and broke in my truck of all places. these were full ear headphones. cost about $70 years ago. found me lots of gold, smallest being .025 grams, biggest being 18.3 grams. most gold is under a gram or two so you need good phones and full ear coverage, esp if by noisy water or on windy tops. if you simply use the speaker box or some cheap phones you will prob miss all the slight tone changes that could signal a bit of gold.

i've now got some of those sennheiser ones. cost bout $80 at noel lemmings. found the build to be pretty flimsy. good sound but i think i will get a real pair before these too break.

you really need to spend some dosh and get some that will last. prob end up cheaper than replacing a cheap pair all the time. a coiled lead is key i think, less snags, and the wire is thicker so harder to break. most detectors with such a coiled lead often allow you to replace the lead if it does break, rather than bif and get a new set.

if you are travelling about a bit with a pack a pair that folds down flat so you can put them in your pack may be an option too.

Yeah a coiled lead is what I need.....Im always putting detector down or standing up and ripping the earphones off my head etc......annoying as hell.

Or even better - wireless headphones, no cords to pull on them or get tangled up in the bush. Love the ones that came with the V3i as you just forget that they are there, have even hopped into the car and started driving away before I realised they were still on my head! :)

I thought there may be issues with interference using cordless?

No interference with the Whites V3i ones as they are designed for use with that detector. From what I've read about the wireless home stereo headphones, they work well but you have to make sure that they are not bluetooth (which causes a delay). There are some makes and models that are popular overseas and are proven & I've seen them sold in NZ but searching those forums will be necessary to find out the names.

The Minelab CTX 3030 has wireless headphones as a standard option too.

Just thought I should get a free plug in there. :-)

TDK brand wireless headphones work really well - no delay, clear sound, sturdy and best of all - no damn wire getting tangled up all the time. Got mine off trade me, paid about $150 new - they seem to have got dearer since then though. NUGGY

Hi guys,
PuffinStuff if you be targeting AU you want a to match your head phones as best as possiable to your detector and yourself.
The only true way to do this is try before you buy if you can.
I have tried a fair few but have gone back to a very old pair that can pick up the slightest change in pitch which is a BIGGIE if you want to come home with some of the good stuff,
Have seen some pretty flash expensive sets out there that are not worth packet they came in!!
Try before you buy and you cant go to wrong,
Happy detecting
Steve

I'm surprised about the quality of the Sennheisers Simon - I swear by them! Even made my old ace 250 slightly less annoying. Then again $80 over here doesn't get you that much and many off e-bay are fakes.
I stumbled upon a pair of 'Moshi' earphones at the warehouse yesterday branded as something similar (Moki).
They aren't full over ear, no volume control but had very good frequency response great quality braided (non curly) cord and were the big $10 biggest downside is they were BRIGHT pink *8^)

If it wasn't for the frequency response I wouldn't have mentioned them could be ok for a retro fit of something else.

I've read that most of the wireless bluetooth headsets are to laggy. 2.4ghz Are better and don't seem to cause interferance you can get some cheapies off e-bay.
