I've somehow lost the nut from my Fisher GB which changes the angle of the coil. So it just 'flops'. My wife went to Mitre 10 and struggled to find anything before coming back with metal!!! wingnuts after much searching. Does anyone know where I can find the right nuts so that I'm no longer flopping? ;-)

Try a plumbing supply outlet. You want to look for the nuts and bolts that are used on toilet seats (or just nick one from a toilet at home - your wife will never notice....).

Oh shite, I've been in both M10 Mega and Bunnings with no luck. Apparently there is a 'bolt shop' near where I live, so I'll try there.

Max had this problem a couple of months ago as well. Because of the size of his ones he had to order some. Take a look at this thread:

http://www.paydirt.co.nz/forums/yaf_postst2332_Plastic-Bolts-for-COIL.aspx#.UarYhUA3Ck8

Don't know if he is still around or that they will fit your detector but give him a PM to see if he has any left over.

Max had a problem with his oversized plastic nuts?

I am sure that Robert will get you the 'real deal' if you really want originals - my son lost his bolt and the nut and had an original to replace itbefore too long.

The ones Max pointed out are also ideal and we have a few of them as spares - they are as good as the originals so no worries there.

I no longer feel emasculated. My wife found the nut in the car boot. Phew, Mitre 10 and Bunnings were no use whatsoever.

Lesson learnt - In case of emergency have spare! Good that you found the lost one but if you act now and get a spare bolt and nut, whether from Roobert or a packet of the ones Max illustrated, you will never be without and a spare will always be at hand.

After losing the nut, and then not to long after the bolt, I became a master of sticking a stick through and using another sliver of wood as a wedge to create some tension. Didn't take long before I tired of constantly fiddling with the thing and I ordered a bag of nuts and bolts from Fisher.
