was bored...very bored. So I emptied my full icecream container to see how many coins I had in shit money (1,2,5,10,20 & 50c)

1c = 1310
2c = 1006
5c = 240
10c = 194
20c = 128
50c = 78

A total of 2956 coins for a total value of 119.16 bucks haha no wonder me bloody arm always hurts! Theres still all the pennies half pennies and all silver coins...plus the pulltabs..beer cans..bottle lids... And the asst relics etc man I love this hobby!

Now to send em off to the bank. Anyone done this? Do we have to clean em well in say a tumbler or do they not care?

Yeah, I sent in my old 5, 10, 20, 50 cent pieces back in March. Didn't bother with the 1 & 2 cent pieces since it couriers work on weight and it wasn't worth it. Total amount I got credited was $220 and it cost me $30 to courier the 11kg package from Rotorua to Wellington (Fastways). Full story here.

I did tumble clean mine, mainly cause the majority of the of them were beach finds and in such a condition that I couldn't confirm what some of them were. Ended up with a silver florin and a few shillings after they were tumbled. Also there were a lot of Aussie coins among them that the Reserve Bank won't credit you for. The 1's and 2's I plan on just taking to a scrap metal dealer.

Just beware of the cost of freight compared to your return. You have $96 worth of 5 - 50c pieces, so weigh them up and get a quote from a courier.

Darn 1c coins, since I've been using the ATPRO with the 11" coil they have about tripled ohwell.
Don't worry Dan sooner or later the weather will clear for a hunt! I'm almost ready to try the stream behind my work gonna get wet might as well do it properly.

Its defiantly not worth sending in the 1's and 2's. For example I have approx 2415 cents worth of the little buggers which weighs in at 5kg. This is $24.15 if if sent to the Reserve bank but it will cost me $15 to courier this package leaving me only $9.15. Compared to approx $21.20 I would get by taking them into a scrap metal yard (and for the hassle they caused me is a much better fitting end for them - REVENGE!)

I have also separated all my NZ Pennies and kept 2 of the best conditioned coins for each year of issue. The rest of the NZ pennies will also go to scrap - another 5kg.

With the ATGOLD and the smaller 8x5 I dug very few 1c unless they were really shallow and it was easy to tell them from the goldies but not so much with the ATPRO and 11" if this weather EVER clears I'll try the 11" on the ATGOLD in saying that first coin the other week sounded just like a deep 1c and turned out to be an 188x thrupence so it's still worth digging...
Sorry to say the guys with the ATPRO International have to watch the ID a lot more.

Liked that part about the "REVENGE" Shilo.

If there is one thing I hate is people speaking a foreign language like ATPRO - whats that? I have a real metal detector out in my iron horse - it eats batteries faster than you can eat a packet of Pineapple chunks but in its day it was truly amazing - its called a Garrett Deepseeker - I wonder how it compares with these things you guys mention. I know it used to pick up a silver three pence at 6 inches and more.

lol keep it for memories sake Lammy even my cheap old F4 will grab a threepence at 8 inches on a dry field.

Thanks for the info guys I will cash in the bigger coins and scrap the 1 & 2c....great idea this revenge thing. I remember hitting that 73 vs 2" deep signal on my f2 one day and saying naaa fk it I will carry on over the bloody 2c piece...and wahlah the ex moved in and hit same spot with my old chinese detector and she pulled a beautiful silver florin at 4 inches deep. Dayyyam!

dig em all they say...
