Hi everyone I just joined and wanted to say hi...I just got back from my first ever gold hunting adventure down at Arrowtown for the weekend....I spent a few nights gleaning ideas and info from this cool site and headed off on friday night. I didn't find much gold (so far as I still have my wash to pan out so am hopeful) but i totally loved the camping out and just getting out in the wop wops...drove through to Mace Town and stayed the night up there on Saturday then did some more panning in the Arrow on the way back out.

All going well...will add a pic of the tiny flakes I will (hopefully) pan from my sluice wash :) and eventually a vid of the adventure on youtube.

Cheers, Dan

Hey hatter sweet as man sounds good to me! I will definitely be doing more trips down there and also up north ways and westcoast ways. I'm getting some pretty small dusty bits out of my concentrate so my sluice must be working to be keeping what I've been panning. In saying that I don;t have much as last night when panning, I found my best flake yet got excited put i in my container and went inside, when I came back outside the bloody wind (or most likely my dog) had knocked over and spilt 1 days of pannining and maybe 4 hours of concentrated/panned gold. I'm off outside soon to use a paint brush to try and sweep some up haha don't like my chances. Ahhh well all learning curbs to me.

I do think my sluice could be better but I had bugger all time to make it and limited junk lying around my shed so given more time I reckon my retension rate will be higher still! hoping of course I can find a spot that has gold :)

But yeah, again I'm keen to meet up and learn from some people who have been doing this for awhile..lol I aint the best conversationlist around but man can I lift some heavy shit hahaa
