I bought both of my Minelabs from them years ago. I had great service, my coil skid plate was split and they gave me a free replacement then they replaced my battery holder free as well. I still have all of my old catalogues from them. They have supplied Te Tahi Detector Club with new gear to try out on occasion as well. Bloooody good folks

I do not know anything about Detection Solutions, but whenever anyone contacts me and it becomes apparent that what they are really looking for is an industrial detector I refer them there. It is my understanding that they specialise in pipe inspection, line traces, etc. If I were ever in Auckland (God forbid) I would be tempted to stop in and see what they have.

To the best of my knowledge Detection Solutions is founded by a fellow whos father worked under my father when my Father was the boss of the Labour Department in Timaru...now that probably doesnt make sense so far but sufficient to say that I think that Detection Solutions is a metal detector supplier who originated in Timaru.

He has dealt in Minelab more or less since Minelab first went on the market and I have to admit that when I was going to import my first Minelab I priced up his costs and compared them with a direct import and it saved me nothing by importing myself so I purchased form him.

Now if I wanted to buy a new Fisher right now I would not hesitate to go to Robert and will indeed do so when I need my new Fisher and I would NOT go to Detection Solutions as I think gives a good deal and is more or less 'our' supplier so give him your loyalty - even if his political persuasions are not quite the same as mine!

For another Minelab product I would go to Detection Solutions - any really good metal detecting business with a higher profile will deal in products across the entire range so everything for pipe detection and underground power lines through to gold, coins and treasure and to the best of my knowledge Detection Solutions falls into this category. I think that if memory serves me correctly he more or less started catering for the fossicker and treasure hunter then branched out as he got bigger to cater all round.

All of the above is correct I THINK but that is how I understand it all - who they are, how they began and where the guy who started all originally came from...I think!

As for loyalty to a dealer - I take it that loyalty still works if you have an already established overseas dealer?

Personally I dont support any dealer who rubbishes other brands & goods - Not my cup of tea

There is enough merit on the products they are pushing, so no need to belittle other brands

Personally I have struggled to get answers to questions from the Fisher dealers, both here & from Fisher direct -

But hey, I know Rodger has a lot of very satisfied customers & that's what counts
Makro - Nokta - deteknix - GoldFinder
