Hi everyone.
I saw an ad on trademe that seemed almost to good to be true.

A chap who may or may not be a member, is selling a T2 but, the interesting thing is the coil that he is going on about.

He states about the coil ;

Open-Frame Bi-Axial™ Searchcoil - handles the Highest Mineralization Soil, Great for Salt Water Beaches, Super Sensitive, Detect coins to 15 inches • Operating Frequency 13 kHz .

I know my trusty ol F75, I have to button right back if I go anywhere near a salty beach. Mind you its ok-ish in dry sand. That is maybe what he is talking about. Have Fisher brought out a new coil ?
I must check the local members/dealers website !!

Here's the trademe ad ;

Current; (Garrett pinpointer), Fisher, Whites, (Old)Minelab.
**Previous**; GC1009, Bounty Hunter 505, Gta-x 1000, AT-Pro

That trademe ad is from "Mr Parallel Importer" referred to in the Garrett THD thread a couple days ago. He has just copied the same wording used by a lot of the Technetic dealers, the coil on the T2 in his ad is Technetics standard 11" DD coil that is officially supplied with the T2 & it looks the same as for the Fisher 75.

All DD coils are good in mineralised soil (at least better then concentric) but it is more the detector that determines whether the machine will operate in salt and not the coil (good ground balancing and/or multi frequency etc).

Be wary seems a lot to pay for what looks like a non se model.
If you are buying a coil I strongly recommend only buying from a true dealer. As I have been doing a heap of research lately into machines I can with no mistake say there are clones of the T2 and or 11"DD coil that are identical and carrying the Teknetics logo, not just the GF2.

It's a conspiracy. The Fisher group is purchasing copies of their own units and on selling them, hey if you can't beat them join them. If I suddenly stop posting then they have most likely succeeded in silencing me!

From personal experience you would be surprised at how well those guys can copy items. I got some top shelf earphones years ago that were fake the only way you could physically tell was by the packaging the original had a code stamped into the blow-molding and the fake was etched.
Sound quality wasn't as good as the original but far better than may top-end brands. If I didn't have the original to compare with I would have thought they were the real deal. Sold them to mates that new what they were and they were blown away by how good they were.

Ironically (those guys) the chinese only seem to be making what us guys (westeners) tell them too -

yet we (westeners) believe that those guys (chinese) just copy everything to pi$$ us off -

where as in reality they (chinese) copy to fulfill our (westeners) demands & corporate orders -

So whats the answer?

Just carry on slagging of the Chinese & continue to support western corporations who manufacture their goods in China?

What a Hoot -
