Max, have you thought of renting one over there. $300 per week works out much cheaper then buying, and if you ended up having to buy new then even a months rental would most likely work out better then the loss you will make on the resale of GPX.

Hi There,

Any Christchurch folks have a GPX 5000 that they would hire out next week 20/05/13?

Will pay good money for the week and bond + treat it like a baby.

Suggestions?

Thanks,

Hamish

Great News! We got a "second hand" Minelab 5000 for AUS$5,600. Turns out it is brand new and still in the box and the warranty card was never submitted so have 3 year warranty too. We are off to Oz in a couple of weeks. I emailed every dealer in Australian Gold and Gem and got 3 possible answers and this definite one. If anyone's intersted in trying this, try Bob Buss at Goanna Detectors first. I was quuated AU$200 to mail it here and AU$60 to courier to Brisbane where we'll pick it up.
