Was up that way last weekend and remember a "local" asking my mate if we had any luck to which he replied "you cant help but not find it". It is spread out over a large area and most water ways will give a show of colour. By casual prospecting spots do you mean panning? If so, officially no is the answer, but i do not think you will bother anybody if you are using a sluice or panning, but will attract the wrong attention if you are dredging. I have noticed that Dredge hole have started to appear in some very public places and is making us hand tools only fellas look quite bad. Keep it discrete Aye! Your best bet to start off with is right in Nasbey itself.
