Hi to all my fellow miners. I have been watching this forum for a while and decided its time to join and share my adventures.I first panned for gold behind the pub in Nasbey 1969 and never lost interest in the mining sector. I,ve done abit of detecting using a Garret deepseeker, also dredging in OZ and NZ. One of my venture was dredging up on the Palmer river north Queensland, needed a cage up there to stop the crocs, they like noisey dredges, 8inch keene.Best gold i,ve ever found. Now I reside in dunedin so have to look a bit harder,I,m teaching my 14year old son the joy of dredging, his best bits sofar are .6 flake Danesy Xmas and last weekend he got a litle nug just under a gram, hope tomorow is fine hes keen for more, its hard to find a good keen mate to share with THats my lot

Hi Garrymac, Welcome to the site. I bet you can tell some great stories. Be nice to hear some of them & I am sure the others on here would like to hear some as well.
I have spent a bit of time in Naseby myself. Mostly up the Hogburn which is the creek behind the pub you speak off. Pretty fine gold. The whole area of Naseby has gold in it. A mate of mine who is into his dredging lives there & I said to him one day, "Where is the closest place to your house you can get gold?" He said that he had set a sluice box up in the road gutter outside his property & after a heavy rain it had gold in it. So gold going down the drain literaly.

Happy hunting. JW :)
