to fossic. are all unpermitted areas free to fossic as in up or downstream of a permitted area. streams that run from old disused mining areas etc. if its too much to explain could anyone suggest where i can find these things out. thanks

thanks but i have checked the forum site. what i was wondering was other rivers/creeks not officially public fossicking areas. are they fair game if not covered by a permit.

Officially, no, if you want to stay within the law. Which I think you do, since you asked. :)

just sent an email to crown minerals to ask about a small claim. and i am talking very small. looks like several thousand dollars minimum going by their website but it will still be interesting to see if they come back with any suggestions. i suspect the answer will be yes we can help but give us lots of $ and 50 pages of paperwork.

what a waste of time that was. they basically sent me an email that said nothing of any use. just a load of crap that really only applied to commercial mining even though i told them it was for recreational use. $$$$$ is all they want. stuff the wee man..

One way to do it is to start a wee group of like minded fossickers and pitch in to get a claim.
And now....On sandy beaches and muddy soil, rings and coins await my coil!
