Hi there everybody.

Eagle here, thought it was about time I got onboard.

I have had the fever for a few years now & have been actively chasing the yellow stuff around Central Otago.

I live at Lake Hawea so I can usually be found sniping a river or out scouring the hills with my trusty minelab GP3500.

I look forward to hooking up with some other keen like minded people.

Gidday Starflash it certainly is a nice part of the world.Mind you this summer has been a shocker.
The fevers pretty bad at the moment but it comes and goes!!!
The GP3500 sure is an awesome machine.About 2 years ago me & a mate of mine from up north used the gpx4500 over in the golden triangle in Victoria for a couple of weeks but have found due to our grounds low mineralisation the 3500 works sweet as here.
I work with several different coils in mono & dd ranging from 8inch up to 18inch,What about you?

hi eagle

17x11dd, 18dd, 11dd, 15x12 mono, 8 mono, 12x9 mono, 10x5 mono, my favs are the 18 and 17x11 dds, i know the monos are supposed to be deeper, but at the moment just had more luck with the dds. i am determined to get something with my 15x12 minelab commander. hopefully this month

Hi Starflash

That is A nice arsenal of coils.
I have found similar results with both mono & DD.
Is that 15x12 the new comander range?
You enjoy those bigger coils?
I like swinging elipticals, a bit lighter & more manoverable in our uneven terrain.
Wheres the next mission too?

yep the 15x12 bought last year
i have had the best success with the 18 inch coiltek dd, very light and the smallest i have got with it is a .2 grammer at about 6 inches so i think that is pretty good for sensativity.

next mission? i suggest you pin a gps tracker device on kiwjw and follow the signal

Starflash good going that just proves to me how good the gp3500 is.I have been using my newest coil a 17" mono eliptical Advantage Nugget finder coil of late also extremely light & have pinged a few around that size & depth also, with Boost set on deep & soil set on normal.
It can certainly pick up the fly s#%t & eats the larger nugs.
What settings were you using?

it depends on soil but if i had to say what i use on most occasions would be:
soil=nortmal, boost=deep, balance on fixed, however i have been reading on other forums some of the pros use tracking on medium?

it will be something i will try next time, as i have a feeling i drift off in bordom and forget to ground balance as often as i need to.

good luck eagle
