Here is the gold I've found in the Arrow river over the course of a few trips 1.77grams, however this is just the finer stuff, I took the flakes out and put them in a glass locket for a gift :) (will upload a pic of that at a later date)

Nice, well done.

Good to see a few more Dunedin people joining up, so welcome to the site!
I like the idea of the gift in fact apart from just being outdoors and with good company finding enough gold to eventually have a ring made for my Wife is my focus. My other detector finds pay for gear and gas.

Just did a weekend in the hills of the arrow, over 20grams detected in disused workings, if I could figure out pictures I would post but its not easy with iPhone!

hey mate, i've got a bit more time between now and when the hills freeze over so if you want to do some more detecting. i've been meaning to get up the arrow some more. i've been out the 12 mile climbing about. interesting out there but grown over with bush now. got a couple of other spots not too far away too if you're keen.

Sure thing Simon will send you a text when I am free, just had a mate down with his gpx 5000, wasn't to impressed with it though to be honest, I got far more hits with a properly balanced gb2.

An interesting observation - the Goldbug and Goldbug 2 will get finer gold closer to the surface and that is why you got more hits.

In around 200 hours accumulated work with the Minelab my son has had around $12,000 in gold so Minelab is not to be sneezed at. The MInelab is far better where there is larger gold deeper but for close to surface stuff the Goldbug is the bees knees!
