Found these, my four best slugs, all within 30 mns of each other on my recent trip to Nelson
6,9,13, and just short of 17 grams

very nice indeed, what sort of detector and coil do you use? and how faint were the signals? i am impressed how many good size nuggets coming out lately, i have found some nuggets in the Nelson area too, but not that big. They keep you buzzing for a while, aye. Well done.

Nice haul! So were you on a deep bush mission or somewhere fairly easy to get to if you don't mind my asking? Looks like some pieces that would have warranted some effort getting to them ;)

I guess they must have been in a patch pretty close together?

Any while I'm asking so many questions... what's the meaning of life?

Just curious!

Gavin, I can't answer the important questions....could probably be able to have a good guess/speculation, but the life one is usually 42!; though I see the great effort of Starflash retrieved beutiful slugs of more than 42...(grams!).
Well done Starflash.

hi nugget hunter, i use a gp 3500 and were found with a 8 inch mono
yeh gavin very patchy, basically the only patch i found, rest were all over the place and thin on the ground.
very close to the beach, only 4 mns drive down a rural road easy access. awesome conditions as the creeks were very low if not dry.

Nice nuggets, really pretty, and impressive size too. Great going!

Easy access? - Near the beach? - Good grief, the rest of us are fighting for hours through scrub and thorns, walking for miles up steep hills and going so far off the beaten track, that search and rescue couldn't find us. Then there's you, fannying about on a rural road near the beach, finding massive nuggets and probably going home for tea! I'm totally flabbergasted - which doesn't happen often.

Good on you mate, all the best - just next time - - - - tell us you had to use specialist climbing gear, oxygen mask and walk for 9 days though a living hell each way to get that sort of result. NUGGY

Cheers starflash - much appreciated. Cool to hear you found them within easy reach, wasn't expecting that at all! Nice to know it's not always necessary to go on a major mission to get some fine pieces of gold :)

If there's some that big I bet there's a few smaller bits lurking around too. Worth hitting the area again if I was you ;)

I'll swap you gps coordinates for a nice trout I saw while lying face down in the Baton for 5 hours last week!

cheers guys, honestly they are the best slugs ive ever found and all in one spot, total fluke, the rest of the time was a little boring. maybe it was 5 minutes away from coast and i should say this: us aucklanders call the whole of golden bay "nelson!"
also found: 1000 "22" shells, boot scraped
500 shell fragments, which sounded very mellow like gold
100 air riffle pellets
100 shot gun pellets, they sound good also
and gave directions to many lovely foreign girls driving camper vans!

dont you love summer!
