hiya, just wondering what rules you have in NZ for detecting, i visit family in CHCH every year and was thinking about bringing my detector on my next trip but want to learn rules and permits and where you can and can't go.

same as anywhere else basicly mate i go any places that are public land just look out for maori land and private land as youl need permisions and all that jazz.

Hi there Aucoinshooter. Andy summed it up quite well. If you stick to public beaches or parks you will be fine. Private or historic land is no go. There are many a detectorist in Ch Ch so im sure you will be able to t up with one. Good luck out there.

cheers, do you need a permit over here to do it, im in chch at the moment here for another week but no detector this trip. over home in AUS ive found a 1950 NZ penny and a millitary cap badge with "NZ ONWARDS" on it.

my detector is a fisher F4 with the 11" DD coil its a great machine i love it and i use a garret pro pointer.
